Monique N. Rodríguez, Ph.D., LPCC, is an Assistant Professor of Counselor Education at the University of New Mexico. Her scholarship focuses on embodied self-awareness, interoception, counselor development, and experiential pedagogy. She directs the SANAR Lab, where she leads research on somatic approaches to counselor training, including the development of the SOMA Program (Somatic Orientation & Mindful Attunement) and the Counselor Embodied Self-Awareness Scale (CESAS). Dr. Rodríguez’s work integrates phenomenology, interoception, and relational field perspectives to advance counselor leadership and advocacy. She has presented nationally on embodied practice, self-awareness development, and experiential learning in counselor education. She currently serves as President-Elect of RMACES and is committed to developing embodied and culturally responsive training for the next generation of counselors.
