• Gena Lawson is a Doctoral Student in Counselor Education and Supervision at the University of New Mexico and a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. Her research interests include trauma-informed care, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) applications in counselor education and supervision, and the impact of trauma on educational processes. With 13 years of teaching experience in secondary education, Gena currently serves as a graduate teaching assistant at UNM, where she is the instructor of record for Introduction to Human Services. As a clinical therapist specializing in working with adolescents and mandated clients, she has been pursuing Linehan certification and is a board-certified clinical supervisor at her agency in Albuquerque, NM. Gena is an active member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES), and New Mexico Counseling Association (NMCA).
