I am Ambrin Masood, a tenured Professor and department chair for the Department of Rehabilitation and Human Services at Montana State University Billings. I have been teaching as a professor since 2009. My journey as a therapist began with my first Masters degree in Clinical Psychology in 1991. After coming to America I received my second Masters degree from the University of South Alabama in Experimental Psychology and then my third Masters from Auburn University in Psychological Testing. In 2010 I graduated from Auburn University with a PHD in School Psychology. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who specializes in mental health therapy and psychological assessment for adults, adolescents, and children (ages 6+). I am a Nationally Certified Forensic Mental Health Evaluator (CFMHE) and certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Twenty six years of training and expertise in mental health, therapy, psychological testing, trauma care and crisis intervention has allowed me to teach my students and support my clients in processing unsettling or traumatic experiences, building healthy coping strategies, and fostering a sense of safety and self-empowerment. I integrate trauma-informed care with evidence-based practices and draw on attachment theory and solution-focused approaches to help young people build confidence and resilience. I serve on the editorial boards of the Journal of Public Health Issues and Practices and Journal of Educational and Developmental Psychology. My main interest is in cross-cultural research and research on parenting and resiliency in children. I have authored articles in the areas of personality, mental disability, language and resiliency in youth. I have given back to my community through educating people about trauma, resiliency, culture, stereotypes and prejudice.
