Melissa Luke, PhD, LMHC, NCC, ACS is a Dean’s Professor in the unit of Counseling & Human Services within the School of Education at Syracuse University. She is a National Certified Counselor (NCC), an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), and both a New York state Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and certified School Counselor. Dr. Luke is an international leader in counselor education with ~250 publications and having delivered presentations and workshops in nine countries to date. She is a sought-after speaker for her expertise in identifying, understanding, and responding to the mental health and needs of historically underserved populations, including but not limited to those with marginalized identities. Dr. Luke was named Fellow in the Association for Specialists in Group Work (ASGW) in 2017 and the American Counseling Association (ACA) in 2018. In addition, Dr. Luke was the recipient of the 2021 American Educational Research Association (AERA)’s Distinguished Research Award, the Association for Counselor Education Supervision’s (ACES) 2023 Publication in Counselor Education and Supervision Award, the ACA’s 2024 Extended Research Award, and most recently ACA’s career recognition with the 2025 Thomas Hohenshil National Publication Award.
