Dr. Adekemi Ekanoye is an Assistant Professor of Department of Counseling, School of Mental and Behavioral Health at Regis University. She earned her doctorate from the University of New Orleans, Louisiana. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LPC) in Colorado with a passion for fostering growth, resilience, and emotional well-being in both individuals and aspiring professionals. She is also a member of the American Counseling Association and National Certified Counselor. Dr. Adekemi's research interests include international students' mental health and help seeking decision, social justice and advocacy, counselor cultural responsiveness, migrants and trauma, and cultural identity. She has worked with diverse students in different capacities as well as counseling clients. With expertise in clinical practice and teaching, I guide students and clients alike toward a deeper understanding of the human experience, promoting effective therapeutic techniques and ethical standards. As an educator and counselor, my work is grounded in constructivist pedagogy, client-centered, culturally responsive approach, and I am committed to advancing the field through ongoing research, advocacy, and the cultivation of compassionate, competent counselors. Whether in the classroom or clinical setting, I strive to create environments where individuals can explore, heal, and thrive. She continues to be aware of the role culture plays in individual life and experiences.
