Sandra Gavin, PhD, LPC, NCC, ACS, is an Associate Professor of Counselor Education at Adams State University. A Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and Approved Clinical Supervisor, she teaches graduate courses in both the MA and PhD programs, including topics related to social justice and identity development in advocacy. Sandra’s research centers on enhancing counselors-in-training’s self-efficacy and competence in working with LGBTQIA+ populations and exploring the role of mentorship in counselor development. In addition to her academic role, she maintains a private practice serving diverse clients and clinical needs. She also serves on the Editorial Review Board for the Journal of LGBTQ Issues in Counseling and as the Trustee of Membership for the Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities.
